"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change"
Dr Wayne Dyer
The pressures of everyday life throws up many challenges which at times can be difficult to cope with, leading to stress, anxiety and depression. Whether these pressures lie within or outside the work environment they might adversely impact on work performance, health and wellbeing.
In 2014/15, an estimated 9.9 million working days were lost through work-related stress. On average, each person suffering from work-related stress took an estimated 23 days off.
Helping managers and staff effectively resolve situations that may impact on their work performance is one of the best investments an employer can make, and a small investment in counselling could keep key staff working and functioning properly.
The provision of counselling through an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) has established business benefits which include increased productivity of employees and decreased absenteeism.
This is achieved by supporting employees to manage issues in their work and personal life through short term counselling enabling them to develop and implement strategies to support their wellbeing and address ongoing issues.
